“Everything is achievable, set your goals, believe in yourself and make it happen because you can do it”
Being only 20 years old and holding only a few euros in his pocket did not stop Raffaele to follow his dream and get a new life in London.
But the experience wasn’t quite what he expected. The lack of English brought him to an underpaid job as a kitchen assistant. Consequently, he went back to his hometown after three weeks.
However, after that something triggered his mind. During his time in London, he realised that many Italians were struggling to get jobs, so he started thinking about how he could help them. The answer came after six years when he came back to London with a new plan in mind: a recruitment company.
He persistently contacted the managers of different restaurants and looked for the best matches for positions. At the time, he found a warehouse in the suburbs of London. Then, he called his Italian friends and offered them a job.
The recruitment company grew in a short time and he had finally accomplished his ambition of starting a business in London. Opening an English school was the next step, and after lots of hard work the school was established. Escape Campus has since been helping people to improve their English level and access a better quality of life.
What motivated you to open Escape Campus?
I always wanted to create a new way to educate which is student-centered by implementing the support of technology. With this innovative approach, we will make a change together.
Escape Campus is a friendly space, where people feel comfortable to learn with new methods. I really believe that technology can make a difference. For this reason, with our IT Team, we are creating an e-learning platform where people can learn English no matter where they are or what they are doing.

What would you say to the people who want to take on a new experience in London?
I would tell them to go out from their comfort zone; it doesn’t really matter if you feel uncomfortable at the beginning. This means that you are building something special. I would also like to tell them to overcome their fears, don’t be shy and to get involved in the culture. In my experience, I learnt that everything is achievable, set your goals, believe in yourself and make it happen because you can do it.
What is your favourite thing about working at Escape Campus?
I like the fact that I can be in contact with people. Learning the English language can change your life and give you unique opportunities. Ultimately, doing something good for people makes me feel proud.
